But most product failures happen before the first developer is assigned, before the first user story is written. Smart product-level and portfolio-level decisions about market segments, target users and pricing/packaging are essential to the success of commercial software.

Rich led a talk about the need for portfolio-level strategy and the organizational challenges to good executive decision-making. And we looked at simple allocation tools that can help put business agility to good use.
